Many learners only know how to read through texts slowly word by word, and still struggle to understand the meaning. Students (and teachers!) need to be more aware of how to read efficiently for different levels of meaning, and how to turn language from texts into language they can use.

This course will teach you how to:

• Understand the reading needs of your learners and use this in planning reading lessons

• Practice a range of reading sub-skills

• Set up effective and well-scaffolded reading activities

• Structure a reading lesson including pre-reading and post-reading tasks

• Select appropriate texts for lessons and home review

By the end of this course you will be better able to do the following:
